About Us
Serving adults of all backgrounds who want to improve their functional literacy skills.

Our Purpose

The Sauk Prairie Area Literacy Council (SPALC) serves adults in the Sauk Prairie area who wish to improve their functional literacy skills.  In other words, we help people get from sunrise to sunset more easily because they can navigate the English language more successfully.  We provide training for adults who would like to become tutors, and match them with learners who need their help. If you are interested in becoming a tutor, please click here.

If you are interested in being a learner, or know someone who is interested, please contact bilingual library aide Heather Cole at the Ruth Culver Community Library in Prairie du Sac at (608)643-8318 or complete an application (
aplicación en Español) and either mail it or bring it in.
