Text and Audio Resources

Both the Ruth Culver Community Library in Prairie du Sac and the George Culver Community Library in Sauk City have extensive collections of texts, dictionaries, audio programs and workbooks for use in your classes.  If you tell the staff that you are a SPALC tutor when you check these out, you may renew them for a longer period than usual.

Some tutors choose to use the Intercambio Confidence and Connections curriculum. SPALC purchases teacher guides and student books for those who use this system. Materials covering all levels 1-5 are located in the Tutor Resource Center in the George Culver Community Library. Look for them in the far right aisle as you enter the library.  Copies of the Immigrant Guide and Pronunciation Fun with Pictures can also be found on the shelf. Click HERE to see various helpful videos describing the Intercambio curriculum.

A
ll Student workbooks and Teacher books can be obtained on a self-serve basis. Please fill out the form located in the 3-ring binder, take what you need, then return material to its book holder when they are no longer needed. Additional details about the check-out/check-in process are included here and in the binder.

A Sampling of ELL/ESL Internet Resources

The number of online resources for learning and teaching English is staggering, which is both encouraging and daunting for new tutors.  The list below is not meant to be comprehensive, but is just a place to start.  If you find other sites that you think are especially helpful, please let us know about them in your monthly report and we’ll add them to the list.
